The Mosque of Islamic Solidarity (Masajidka Isbahaysiga) was constructed in 1987 with financial support from Saudi Arabia. It is the main mosque in Somalia’s capital city Mogadishu, and an iconic building in Somali society.
Following the start of the civil war in the early 1990s, the Mosque was closed. It was later reopened in 2006. Funds were raised from the business community for intended renovations of parts of the building. In 2015 the Federal Government of Somalia completed the refurbishments
on the mosques infrastructure.
